Powered Speaker Chart - A little something I put together (that's why it gets to go first! Still need to add the more expensive brands, but for most this is a fairly comprehensive list of available powered speakers. (pretty old, will probably redo at some point)
Sample Band Contracts - Links to sample contracts and the contract we use. Yorkville's Audio Guide - A 47 page document by Yorkville that is an excellent read for anyone new to sound reinforcement. Yorkville's PA Basics - A 14 page document for those to lazy to read the 47 page version. DBX's Compression 101 - An introduction to compression with tips on settings for various applications Prosoundweb.com's "Study Hall" - From the simple to the complex, there's a lot of stuff here. Dr. Pro Audio - A lot of good stuff here including several calculators (Written in English & Spanish.) Florida Sound Engineering "Tips" Page - Information on microphones, cables, connectors, and amplifier matching. JBL Paper On Underpowering Speakers Pro-Audio Dictionary - From the Rane Website. Peavey Support Page - Some of the articles are product specific but there is still a lot of good information here. Live Sound Forums
Harmony Central - This is where I hang out. Pro Sound Web (PSW) - Probably the most popular live sound forum on the web. Real names only, no monikers.
Sound On Sound - Don't know anything about this one
Presonus Live Sound Forum - Not terribly well moderated or used by many folks. One poster in particular seems to rule the roost. Posted on here briefly, but it wasn't worth my time.
Ebay Searches
Passive Speaker Search - You still get a few raw drivers and misc items, but it's MUCH better than doing a general search and wading through the garbage no names that make up 75% of the speaker listings. If you see a reputable brand I failed to include let me know. Left out on purpose (Behringer, Nady, Pyle, Gemini). Passive Subwoofer Search - Same as above Active Speaker Search - Searches for powered or active in the PA Speaker catagory. Filters out "cheese" and some items that pop up in the search, like powered mixers. Power Amplifier Search - Filtered for name brand amps. If you see a reputable brand I failed to include let me know. I went ahead and added a few of what I'd call "cheesy brands". It still gets rid of items that really aren't amps and generic "DJ" crapola. Mixer Search - Filtered for "better brands". I left out brands that focus soley on cheap mixers. |
